Anne Averyt

Although she grew up in the urban vista of Philadelphia, Anne Averyt calls the Green Mountains of Vermont, home. It’s where she’s spent the last forty years and where her heart is. What she most enjoys in Vermont is meandering and collecting and sharing stories along the way.

Averyt has spent her life writing. With a career spanning nearly six decades, she is the author of two non-fiction books, a memoir, ParisFlaneur, a poetry chapbook, Autumn's Yard, and most recently, a book of essays, Vermont Perspectives: Sense of Place ~ State of Mind. She is best known in her in Vermont for her print media features and on-air voice as a nine-year contributor to the Commentary series on Vermont Public Radio.

In her most recent publication, Vermont Perspectives, Averyt writes of peepers, chicken pie suppers and an up-country fiddle hoedown. But she also sits down to tea with Emily Dickinson, has a date with a super nova and confronts a menacing bear (rug). She gives the Vermont perspective, sharing the keen sense of place and solid footing in local values that shape Vermonters’ views of home and the world beyond. She regales with stories to fill a thousand nights.
