Wayne “KrispyKritter” Petrovich, author of Tales and Trails of Krispykritter: Adventures of a Long Distance Hiker, first started backpacking in 1976 - and has yet to stop hiking. Unsatisfied with letting the embers of life smolder after retirement from the fire service, Wayne found a second calling as a long distance hiker during a six month backpacking thru-hike on the Appalachian Trail in 2004. Now known by his trail name KrispyKritter, he has over 8,000 miles of trail under his boots on world class trails in both Europe and the United States.
Wayne spent 33 years in the fire service as a firefighter/medic, fire investigator, a Search and Rescue Technician and supervisor/member of the State Fire Marshal's Office Emergency Response Team. Wayne wrote several articles on fire investigation and is the author of A Fire Investigator's Handbook: Technical Skills for Entering, Documenting and Testifying in a Fire Scene Investigation, published by Charles C. Thomas Publishing Ltd. 1998.
KrispyKritter currently works for Travel Country, a retail outfitter store in Central Florida, helping others enjoy the rewards of Mother Nature.
