I believe that my most recent book, co-authored with my friend and colleague Mike Woodcock, is the most important that I have written. It is a handbook for managers, professionals, and those studying for roles like these as AI-era technologies become increasingly daunting rivals. For this book, I combined decades of experience working with managers in many countries with 20 years of academic research. Mike's contribution came from his eleven years in the UK Parliament and a lifetime of (almost always) successful entrepreneurial ventures. Although Mike and I are at an age when most people have retired, we realised our experience could be uniquely helpful. I believe that our 2026 book 'Surviving and Thriving in the AI Era: An Essential Guide for Managers, Professionals, and Future Leaders', combined with an earlier book 'Exploiting Agility for Advantage', will help individuals, organisations, and educators through transformational change. There is no quick fix! Many of us will need to remake ourselves for a new world.
