Ben S. Bradley

Ben Bradley, educated at Oxford and Edinburgh, was from 1998-2017, Foundation Professor at Australia’s largest distance-education institution, Charles Sturt University. He is a path-breaking thinker and researcher who has revolutionised our understanding of the foundations of human action. Working with clinician and theorist Jane Selby, he was the first to study all-infant groups. Their research proves humans can participate in group dynamics before they form their first attachment. His books include the widely-translated Visions of Infancy: A Critical Introduction to Child Psychology (Polity Press, 1989) and Psychology and Experience (2005, Cambridge University Press). In 2009, his film Darwin’s Babies had its international premiere at the bicentennial Darwin Festival in Cambridge, UK. His recent book Darwin’s Psychology: The Theatre of Agency (Oxford University Press, 2020) builds on decades of publishing about Charles Darwin. Forthcoming is Babies in Groups: Extending our Vision (with Jane Selby and Matthew Stapleton, Oxford University Press).
