Edward L. Goldberg

Edward Goldberg is an art historian, an archival sleuth and a long-time resident of Florence, Italy. Along the way, he achieved a PhD at Oxford, taught at Harvard, and founded the Medici Archive Project (MAP) - accessing the vast and largely unexplored archive of the Medici Grand Dukes of Tuscany.

"Over the years, I have made many astonishing discoveries," Edward observes, "but the Blanis trove was the scoop of a lifetime - two hundred letters from a Jew in the Florentine Ghetto in the early seventeenth century. Benedetto Blanis narrates the daily dramas of Ghetto life and he takes us behind the scenes at the Medici Court. In 'Jews and Magic in Medici Florence: The Secret World of Benedetto Blanis', I tell his startling story in his own words."

'The Medici Guide to Florence' - the inside story of Florence's first family on the ground in their former capital.

'The Parallel Universe of Benito Mussolini: A Journey through Another Italy' - revealing a disquieting past that is still very much present in today's Italy.
