Dick Pountain

Born 1945 in Derbyshire I was educated at Chesterfield Grammar School and Imperial College, London (Chemistry, postgrad Biochemistry). After a spell in New York I returned to London in 1970 and became columnist and book/film/music reviewer for underground papers including Frendz, Ink and Oz. In 1972 I helped Felix Dennis co-found Bunch Books (now Dennis Publishing) and in 1979 we took on Personal Computer World, the UK's first personal computer magazine. I learned how to program and became a columnist, then from 1983 to 1998 became European editor for US magazine Byte, for which I wrote 150 technical features. In 2000 I wrote "Cool Rules" with my old underground pal David Robins. Nowadays I'm Real World Editor and columnist for PC Pro magazine. My political blog "Caustic Comments" is at http://dickpountain.blogspot.co.uk/ and my website at http://www.dickpountain.co.uk/
