Steve Mentz

I teach and write about Shakespeare, the blue humanities, and ecocriticism at St. John's University in New York City. Recent books include An Introduction to the Blue Humanities (Routledge 2023), Ocean (2020), and the edited collection A Cultural History of the Sea in the Early Modern Era (2021).

New books coming soon include an experiemental collection of eco-poetry, Saiing without Ahab (spring 2024), and a collection of essays, Water and Cognition in Early Modern English Literature (spring 2024), co-edietd with Nic Helms.

I've also written books on prose romance in the age of Shakespeare, *Romance for Sale in Early Modern England*, and early modern criminal literature *Rogues and Early Modern English Literature*.
