Sara Jane Boyers

SARA JANE BOYERS is a California-based writer/editor and exhibiting fine art photographer. She is returning to the world of youth books with a series of illustrated book projects as well as several adult fine art photography monographs. Her youth focus has been on books about contemporary art and poetry, critical thinking, and political activism, starting with her award-winning book LIFE DOESN'T FRIGHTEN ME, in which she married the expressive artwork of Jean-Michel Basquiat to a stirring l978 poem of Dr. Maya Angelou, most recently called a "contemporary classic." (Stewart, Tabori & Chang/Abrams 1993). On January 9, 2018, the 25th Anniversary Edition of LIFE will be released by Abrams. Her second book, O BEAUTIFUL FOR SPACIOUS SKIES, created a "conversation" between Wayne Thiebaud's paintings and our unofficial American hymn written by one of our first suffragettes, Katharine Lee Bates. Boyers' TEEN POWER POLITICS: MAKE YOURSELF HEARD, written for youth on civic and political activism was critically acclaimed for its non-partisan, issue-oriented approach for teens. More books to come!
