Beth Hurst

Beth Hurst is Professor of Literacy in the Graduate Literacy Program at Missouri State University where she teaches online graduate reading courses for elementary, middle, and secondary school teachers. She was the 2014 recipient of the Missouri Governor's Excellence in Teaching Award. Hurst co-authored the books Keeping the Light in Your Eyes: Encouragement from Teachers who still Love to Teach (2nd ed.), Professionalism in Teaching (3rd ed.), and Creating Independent Readers: Developing Word Recognition Skills in K-12 Classrooms. She has also published numerous articles in leading educational journals.
