Leo McCann

Thanks for looking at my page. I am a Professor of Management at the University of York, England. My writing aims to illuminate the complexity of the world of work, using sociological inquiry. I am particularly interested in workplaces and professions characterized by high levels of pressure, intensity and social meaning. My most recent book is 'The Paramedic at Work', which is based on powerful, human stories of people working in England's ambulance service. I also have written about the broader economic, political, and cultural forces that impact on work and people, as expressed, for example in my recent book 'A Very Short, Fairly Interesting and Reasonably Cheap Book on Globalization'. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer!
