Katherine Holman

Katherine has degrees in both History and Archaeology, and her PhD looked at the historical evidence of Scandinavian runic inscriptions in the British Isles. She has spent time researching Viking-Age and medieval runic inscriptions at the Universities of Gothenburg and Uppsala (in Sweden) and Trondheim (in Norway), and has worked at the University of Hull and The Open University in the UK.

She has visited many remote churches and beautiful historical locations, as well as museums, in search of the objects and monuments that have survived from the centuries when Scandinavians were traders, raiders, rulers and settlers, their influence stretching from North America to the Middle East. Her books explore the impact and legacy of the Viking Age in the British Isles and beyond.
