I have shifted from academic to fiction writing after my retirement. I find fiction more lively and meaningful.
My fiction writing revolves around one central puzzle: human behaviour. There are layers and layers of deceit and subterfuge behind which people hide. I want to know why they do so.
I read a lot as all authors must. I like to give a free rein to my imagination in different settings. Adding intimate, everyday details to different situations without having been in them, gives me a lot of satisfaction, particularly when readers find the details engrossing.
I have confined myself to story writing so far but I have recently ventured into writing a novel. I can create a new world by itself in a novel. That is very satisfying indeed. What was really surprising were the images and bits of information, long forgotten, which memory brought to the fore in the process of writing.
