Joseph Pear

Joseph J. Pear received a BS from the University of Maryland and an MA and PhD from The Ohio State University. He is a professor of psychology at the University of Manitoba where he does both basic and applied behavioral research. He has written numerous research articles, book chapters, and encyclopedia articles. In addition, he developed the Computer-Aided Personal System of Instruction (CAPSI) currently being used to teach courses at various universities. CAPSI is also a research tool used to study the teaching and learning dimensions of university education, staff training, and behavior therapy. Pear enjoys tackling complex subjects and making them understandable for students and other interested readers. He has written three books: "Behavior Modification: What It Is and How to Do It" (with Dr. Garry Martin), "The Science of Learning," and "A Historical and Contemporary Look at psychological Systems."
