Michele R. Davidson

Michele R. Davidson, PhD, CNM, PMHNP-BC, PMH-C, RN has been a nurse midwife since 1995 and has delivered more than 1000 babies during her midwifery career. Dr. Davidson earned her certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and founded Chesapeake Bay Psychiatry in 2021, specializing in women's mental health and perinatal mental health. Dr. Davidson has co-written many books including, Old's Maternal-Newborn Nursing and Contemporary Maternal-Newborn Nursing Care which is used globally for nursing programs and is translated into 11 different languages. Her first solo authored book, A Nurse's Guide to Women's Mental Health, was inspired by her ongoing desire to end the stigma for women coping with mental health issues. This book won an American Journal of Nursing Book Award in 2012. Dr. Davidson has a passion for writing and published the children's book, Stow-Away to Smith Island. Dr. Davidson is married to her husband, Nathan, who works side by side with her in their psychiatry practice. They are the parents of four grown children. She resides on the Virginia Eastern Shore in Cape Charles, Virginia.
