Michael Steinberg

Michael Steinberg is founding editor of Fourth Genre: Explorations in Nonfiction. He’s written and/or co-authored five books and a stage play. In 2004, Still Pitching won the ForeWord Magazine /Independent Press Memoir of the Year. An anthology, The Fourth Genre: Contemporary Writers of/on Creative Nonfiction (with Bob Root) is in a sixth edition. Several essay/memoirs have been listed as Notables in Best American Essays. Six have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize.

Steinberg has been a visiting writer at many colleges and universities, as well as having taught a international and national writers' conferences, including, the Prague Summer Writing Program, the Paris Writer's Conference, the Geneva (Switzerland) Writer's Conference, the Kachemak Bay Writer’s Conference in Homer, Alaska, among many others. He’s also taught in three low residency MFA programs--Vermont College, Stone coast/University of Southern Maine, and Solstice/Pine Manor College; He’s been on the founding faculty of the latter two. Currently he’s the Nonfiction Writer-in-Residence in the Solstice/Pine Manor program.
