Hello! I am a criminologist and professor in the Wilder School of Government & Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University. I served as Chief of the International Center at the National Institute of Justice. I have traveled widely and have written and edited 19 books. I enjoy teaching, talking about important ideas, and finding links between the great ideas and both the classic and popular literature and movies! My motto is this: life is short, so let's not waste it on trivial pursuits! (although I love soccer, the movies, good coffee, a well-made drink, among other "worthwhile" interests!)
