Andrew Clapham

Andrew Clapham was the first Director of the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (2006-2014) and is a Professor of Public International Law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. He was elected as a Commissioner for the International Commission of Jurists in 2014. He has served as a Special Adviser on Corporate Responsibility to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson, and was adviser on international humanitarian law to the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative in Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello. He was the Representative of Amnesty International at the United Nations in New York from 1991-1997. His "Very Short Introduction" to Human Rights is now in a second edition and the first edition is available in Arabic, Turkish, German, Swedish, and Korean. He has recently published a new book entitled “War”.
