I have been interested in 'what makes us tick' since as early as I can remember, and my interest in brain research has been there since my teens.

In the early 2000’s I found that brain research provided a missing piece in our understanding of how to be better leaders, managers or coaches. I coined the term neuroleadership in 2006 and got a professional doctorate in the Neuroscience of Leadership from Middlesex University soon after.

Today I am the CEO of the NeuroLeadership Institute (NLI). As of 2026, NLI is the world’s leading cognitive science consultancy, that has advised over two thirds of the Fortune 100.

With operations in 24 countries, NLI brings neuroscientists and leadership experts together to make organizations better for humans through science. In the last decade the firm has helped around 20 million people be more effective by understanding their brain.

My previous books include Your Brain at Work, Quiet Leadership and Coaching with the Brain in Mind. My new book, Good with Humans, comes out November 2026.
