John Micklos

John Micklos, Jr. is an award-winning education journalist and the author of more than 60 books for children and young adult readers, including picture and poetry books for preschool/primary children, history and social studies books for elementary students, and history and biography titles for middle school and high school students. His new picture book, Sad, Mad, Glad: A Day Full of Feelings, comes out from Penguin Workshop in May 2026. Two of his other picture books, One Leaf, Two Leaves, Count with Me and Raindrops to Rainbow, were selected for inclusion in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

John has done K-12 school visits in several states and has spoken at the national conferences of the International Literacy Association and the National Council of Teachers of English, as well as at writing conferences and at state reading conferences in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware.
