Lorne Tepperman

Born in Toronto, Canada, I studied music there -- piano and composition -- and at National Music Camp in Michigan. But then I got seduced by sociology. I studied that at the University of Toronto, the social relations at Harvard University and demography at Princeton University. Then, I returned to Canada. For over fifty years, I taught sociology to undergraduates at the University of Toronto. During that time, I also published books -- especially, textbooks -- on families, social inequality, crime and deviance, social problems, and sociology more generally. I also published monographs. One, a monograph on the future of families, was translated into Vietnamese for publication there. Another, a monograph on gambling addiction, was translated into Russian for publication there. (In fairness, that book was also about the Russian author, Dosteoevsky, and his famous gambling addiction.) Since retiring from teaching, I have been writing mystery novels and the first, titled THE DONATION, will be published in fall of 2024 by Rock's Mills Press.
