Clinton W. McLemore

Clinton W. McLemore is the author of eight books, including with his wife, Staying One: How to Avoid a Make-Believe Marriage (Cascade). Designed to be used in workshops or by individuals, it is accompanied by both a workbook and comprehensive workshop leader’s guide.

McLemore holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California. He has been an NIMH fellow and was identified in a large-scale study, funded by the National Institutes of Health, as one of the top thirty psychotherapists in the United States. Before USC, he attended the military prep school, Admiral Farragut Academy, and for college Adelphi University.

For nearly three decades, he consulted for Fortune 500 companies and the nation’s premier think-tank. Before that, he taught college for six years. In his late twenties, he was invited to join the full-time faculty of the Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary, where he remained for ten.

His extensive publications in scientific and professional journals have been widely acclaimed, and his near record-length article in American Psychologist was cited as a “seminal contribution to the field.”

He founded Clinician’s Research Digest and its accompanying continuing education program; both were later acquired by the American Psychological Association and continue to thrive as vehicles for ensuring that psychologists are aware of the latest findings in their discipline.

His ideas on leadership and its development have been written about in Harvard Business Review, and he has been quoted many times in newspapers. He has also been interviewed frequently on radio and television. McLemore has been a guest speaker at institutions of higher learning, including Chapman University, Occidental College, and Wheaton College.
