Shannon Okey

Shannon Okey is a knitting designer and the author, co-author or editor of over a dozen fiber arts-related books for multiple major US indie publishers including Interweave, 10 Speed Press and Chronicle. She is the founder of Cooperative Press. CP recently celebrated its 10th birthday and has published over 75 knitting books. Shannon has presented on niche publishing at South by Southwest, O’Reilly’s Tools of Change conference and elsewhere. She’s also served on the boards of the Independent Book Publishers Association and the Craft Industry Association.

Shannon is the former editor of UK-based monthly knitting magazine Yarn Forward, founder of Knit Edge magazine, and a former columnist for knit.1 magazine. She was named one of the ten “New Guard of Knitting” in Vogue Knitting’s 25th anniversary issue. Shannon has appeared on many crafty TV shows, including Knitty Gritty, Uncommon Threads, Crafters Coast To Coast and Knitting Daily TV; she teaches in person all over the world.
