Marno Verbeek

Marno Verbeek (1965) is Professor of Finance at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, the Netherlands (RSM). From 2011 to 2017, he was also Dean of Research of RSM and Academic Director of the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM). He holds an MSc degree in econometrics and a PhD in economics (1991) from Tilburg University, The Netherlands.

Marno’s interests are in the areas of asset pricing, professional asset management, econometrics and empirical finance. He is author of the successful textbook A Guide to Modern Econometrics (John Wiley and Sons), which had its fifth edition published in 2017. In 2021, he published Panel Methods for Finance (De Gruyter Studies in the Practice of Econometrics).

In his work, he focuses on the relevance of econometric methods and their underlying assumptions for empirical work, by providing an intuitive guide through the econometric forest, including the more advanced techniques like GMM, cointegration and panel data modeling. He teaches classes on empirical finance, asset management, applied econometrics, and occasionally provides summer courses on panel data.
