Henry Bial

Henry Bial is Professor and Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Kansas, where has also served as Chair of the Department of American Studies and Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD in Performance Studies from New York University and a BA in Folklore and Mythology from Harvard University.

In addition to his scholarly pursuits, Henry has worked in a variety of capacities -- director, performer, designer, playwright, dramaturg, sound and lighting operator -- in university and professional theatres in New York, Kansas City, Boston, Minneapolis, and Albuquerque.

Henry is Past President of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE), a comprehensive non-profit professional membership organization, and a member of the Board of the College of Fellows of the American Theatre.
