Christopher McGowan

After obtaining my bachelor’s degree in England, I became a full-time biology teacher at high school. While loving teaching I didn’t want to remain school teaching forever, so I enrolled as a part-time doctoral student, in paleontology, at the University of London

Receiving my PhD in three years, which was exceptional, I obtained a paleontological position at Canada’s premier museum: the Royal Ontario Museum, in Toronto. I was also cross-appointed as a professor of zoology at the University of Toronto.

Having enjoyed more than thirty years as a paleontologist, the best job I can imagine, I took early retirement. Now I spend most of my time writing. I’ve had 15 non-fiction books published, mostly on science, and four works of fiction. Eight of my books were written for children. I’ve been extensively interviewed on radio and TV and have written and presented radio documentaries for CBC Radio.
