Bryan Lawson writes crime mysteries. There are seven published in the Drake and Hepple Mysteries series. He is busy writing the eighth. All but one of the series are set in the beautiful, historic city of Chester, where Bryan was born. A special characteristic of these novels is that time and place play important roles alongside the characters. Wherever possible they use real locations. The crimes and places are interwoven as well as contemporary and historic events. Pictures of the locations are available on a chapter-by-chapter basis on Bryan's website (bryanlawson. org)
Bryan studied at the Oxford School of Architecture followed by a Masters and Doctorate in psychology. He has studied the relationship between people, place, and wellbeing. He has also extensively studied the nature of the creative design process. His book, How Designers Think was published in 1980 and is still in print since reaching its fourth edition. It has sold over 100,000 copies
Bryan was Head of School and Dean of the Faculty of Architectural Studies at the University of Sheffield in the UK. He is now Professor Emeritus and has held professorial posts at universities in Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
