Ed Hooper (1964-) has more than 20 years experience as a journalist and military affairs reporter. His career includes working in radio and television as a news anchor and general assignment reporter, serving as an embedded journalist in Iraq, working as a newspaper editor, columnist and freelancing for regional and national magazines as a writer and photographer. He's earned numerous journalism awards, including the Department of Defense's and Secretary of the Navy's highest civilian awards for his contributions to military history.
Hooper's expertise on the topics has been featured on cable programs such as A&E's "Modern Marvels" and "City Confidential." His in-depth knowledge of the South and Southern Appalachia can be seen in his series of books for Arcadia Publishing.
He currently resides in Knoxville, Tennessee where he works as documentary producer and writer. He produced "Medal of Honor: The History" narrated by Gary Sinise for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society in 2014 and recently released his second film in the genre entitled "The Tennesseans: A Volunteer Legacy" commemorating the bicentennial of the state's nickname.
