John Elbert Wilson

John Elbert Wilson is Professor Emeritus, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where he taught church history and the history of modern theology from 1984 to 2013. From 1973 to 1984 he was an ordained minister in the Reformed Church of Switzerland. He holds a Ph.D. degree from Claremont Graduate School, 1975, and a Dr.Theol.Habil. from the University of Basel, Switzerland, 1983, where he taught 1983/1984. In addition to his books and translations he is the author of several articles on topics in modern theology, most recently "Remaking Theology: Orthodoxies and Their Critics," in The Cambridge Companion to Nineteenth-Century Thought (Cambridge, 2019).
