Lauri Ramey

LAURI (卢嫣美) is a writer, professor, and literary activist with a Ph.D. in English from the University of Chicago. Her books have received and been nominated for numerous national and international honors and awards. She is Xiaoxiang Distinguished Professor and Director of the British and American Poetry Center at Hunan Normal University (China). She is also Professor Emeritus of English at California State University, Los Angeles, where she served as founding director of the Center for Contemporary Poetry and Poetics. Lauri is a frequent keynote speaker at universities, conferences, and organizations nationally and internationally, and often discusses the special ability of art to create community and improve communication. As Lauri Scheyer, her newest books are Theatres of War: Contemporary Perspectives (Bloomsbury/Methuen Drama), Selected Poems of Calvin C. Hernton with David Grundy and Ishmael Reed (Wesleyan University Press), and Between the Night and Its Music: New and Selected Poems by A.B. Spellman (Wesleyan University Press).
