I am now enjoying retirement from academia after spending 23 happy years lecturing at Liverpool John Moores University. I now work in the voluntary sector for English Heritage at Boscobel House, which is where the future Charles II hid whilst pursued by the forces of Cromwell. If you love history or architecture, do pay a visit. It is 7 miles NW of Wolverhampton.

I also work as a Route Ranger for Sustrans and am an Ambassador for Light House, the Black Country's only independent film and arts centre. It is located in the historic Chubb Building, 2 minutes from Wolverhampton Rail Station.

In addition to my print books, I completed an e book project about glam rock in 2016. It's called "All the Other Young Dudes: Glam Rock and Producer Pop". Available on Kindle. The book concentrates on the actual sounds and productions of the era 1971-75. I want to give the "unsung heroes" their 15 minutes of fame. This means that producers such as Phil Wainman, Mike Leander and Chas Chandler are given more space than icons such as Bolan and Bowie, as they already have a wealth of writings available to read in print and online.

I have been working on a novel since 2015. It advances in fits and starts and is a semi-fictional account of the workings of a regional cinema ( no guesses needed!). Whether it ever gets completed, who knows? Currently 92,000 words and counting...
