David Pardey

In my career I have been a marketing manager, college lecturer, management trainer and consultant, publisher and video producer, as well as writing a number of books, articles and journal papers on leadership and management topics. From 2007-14 I was Head of Research & Policy at the Institute of Leadership & Management, but now spend my time writing, in freelance research and consultancy work, and occasional speaking engagements - over the years I have been fortunate to speak at events all over the UK and Ireland, and in the USA, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Jordan, Malta and Poland.

I also now have more time now to devote myself to managing the 8 acres of woodland we were fortunate to be able to buy some years ago, and have developed a particular ability to bore for England about coppicing native species like Ash and Hazel. While recovering from that I also have time to explore the amazing academic research being done into how our brains operate and shape our learning and behaviour. This is critical to anybody working in the field of learning and development, especially when it comes to developing the set of behaviours that enable people to be effective leaders, and something that is shaping the books I write and the advice they offer people wanting to be better leaders and managers.
