Emanuela Scarpellini

Emanuela Scarpellini is Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Milan. After earning her Ph.D. in the History of European Society, she conducted extensive research in the United States, receiving prestigious awards and fellowships including Fulbright, the Rockefeller Archive Center, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Newcomen Prize.

She has been Visiting Professor at Stanford University and Fulbright Visiting Professor at Georgetown University, and has lectured internationally across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. She is the founder and director of the MIC (Fashion, Image, Consumption) Research Center and has led several international projects, including the European MUSA project on sustainable luxury, fashion, and design.

Her research focuses on everyday life in the twentieth century, with particular attention to the economic and cultural history of consumption, food, and fashion. She has published more than one hundred books and articles, contributes to major Italian newspapers, and has curated exhibitions (Milan, Venice, New York) and appeared in numerous television and radio programs.
