Peter Sharpe was born in Plymouth, England. He has an M.A. in Language Education and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Exeter University. He created the first English-Japanese dictionary aimed at English-speakers for communicative purposes. He has also written an easy-to-read introduction to linguistics. He lives in Japan and is presently completing projects that were left unfinished when he retired from the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Takushoku University, Tokyo.
