Robert Henson

Robert Henson (@bhensonweather) is a Colorado-based science journalist and meteorologist. He is a regular contributor to Yale Climate Connections and a contributing editor at Weatherwise magazine. Henson co-produced the Category 6 news site at Weather Underground after writing hundreds of web and print articles during more than two decades at the U.S. National Center for Atmospheric Research.

Henson's books include "The Thinking Person's Guide to Climate Change" (AMS, 2nd edition, 2019) and "Weather on the Air: A History of Broadcast Meteorology" (AMS, 2010). He is coauthor with C. Donald Ahrens of the textbooks "Meteorology Today" (Cengage, 13th edition, 2022) and "Essentials of Meteorology" (Cengage, 8th edition, 2017).

From 2018 to 2021, Henson served an elected term on the AMS Council, the governing body of the American Meteorological Society.

A native of Oklahoma City, Henson earned his bachelor's degree at Rice University and a master's degree at the University of Oklahoma. His interests include photography, bicycling, urban design, renewable energy, and popular culture.
