For the past three decades or so I’ve been an academic turning out a number of learned mongraphs, journal articles and reports, some of which are no doubt unread and gathering dust on a shelf somewhere. Over the past few years, I have devoted increasingly more of my time to writing fiction. My first novel, Purely Academic was published by Arena Books in 2017. A collection of my Peruvian travel writing and short fiction, Under Andean Skies: Living and Writing in Peru, was published by New Generation Publishing in March 2022. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

My new novel,The Disappeared, published by Thinkwell Books in February 2023 draws upon a recent six year stay in Peru. It is a political thriller telling the story of a father searching for his son, an investigative journalist who has disappeared whilst researching those who went missing during the dark times of the Shining Path.

I'm currently writing my new novel, Cottage at the edge of the Salt marsh, set on the North Norfolk coast.
