Audrey Friedman Marcus

Audrey Friedman Marcus is the co-author with Rena Krasno of Survival in Shanghai: The Journals of Fred Marcus 1939-49. She earned a masters degree from the Rhea Hirsch School of Education at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles. A co-founder of A.R.E. Publishing, Inc., she wrote and/or edited over 500 books and other materials for teachers and students in Jewish schools. The company was acquired by Behrman House in 2001. She also co-authored a number of children’s books, which were published by URJ Press. An active volunteer and activist in the Denver community, she founded the annual Fred Marcus Memorial Holocaust Lecture, which is under the auspices of the Holocaust Awareness Institute of the Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Denver. Last year, Audrey received an Honorable Mention Award as a “Unique Woman of Colorado” from a group composed of The Denver Post, the Colorado Women’s Foundation, and Lockheed Martin.
