Roger Terry

Roger Terry is a senior associate editor of a multidisciplinary academic journal. Doesn't that sound interesting? It's actually a great job. Each new issue brings articles from a huge variety of fields, everything from cosmology and translation theory to history, engineering, and Iranian cinema. He is also the author of seven books, including "God's Executioner," an award-winning novel, and "Economic Insanity: How Growth-Driven Capitalism Is Devouring the American Dream." In an earlier life, he spent nine years teaching at a prestigious business school.

Roger also ran his own business, the funcompany, for six years. The funcompany produced a humorous day planner (the funplanner, which might also be called the anti-Franklin Planner). It contained funny quotes, a (dis)appointment schedule (because not all appointments are fun), and games to play during boring meetings. The motto of the business was "We'd have more fun if we had more money." Unfortunately, Roger and his business partner never got their big break, so they packed it in and moved on to new adventures, Roger to editing, his partner to firefighting.

When Roger was young (decades ago when there were no inning limits for pitchers), he pitched a 15-inning shutout in which struck out 26 batters. The opposing pitcher struck out 19. The newspaper account said Roger hit a home run in the 15th inning to win the game. If it's in the newspaper, it must be true, right? Well, not quite. One of Roger's teammates actually walked, then stole second, third, and home.

Roger and his wife of 28 years have four children and a hyper Jack Russell Terrier. Roger is a sports nut and an unrepentant chocoholic. He blogs sporadically at fixecon.blogspot.com.
