Jon Dron

Jon Dron is the Associate Dean, Learning & Assessment, and a full professor in the Faculty of Science and Technology at Athabasca University, Canada. Prior to coming to Canada in 2007, he was a principal lecturer and Head of Learning Environments for the Faculty of IT at the University of Brighton, UK. He has a first degree in philosophy, an MSc in information systems, a PhD in learning technology and he is a UK National Teaching Fellow. He became an educator quite late in life. For around 10 years he used to sing for a living, then spent a number of years managing, developing and supporting digital systems. His research centres mainly around learning and technology, with an emphasis on ways to support learning with others in complex, human, social contexts.
