James Miller

I was born in England, studied in America, and worked in Canada as an academic at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. I began my academic life as a scholar of Daoism, aka Taoism, China's indigenous organized religion. Today, I'm interested in how Chinese philosophical, religious and cultural values can contribute to a dialogue that decenters European critical theory, and can help construct of new modes of thinking and valuing that can contribute to a sustainable and flourishing future for our planet. I am Professor of Humanities at Duke Kunshan University in China.
