This transformation could be attributed to the long-standing exchange between East and West. In my doctoral studies at Purdue, I became impatient with the dominance of national and Western perspectives in rhetoric and writing studies. I now write about classical Chinese rhetoric, the teaching of writing in the global context, and English as a cosmopolitan language.
