Malcolm is a founder and Joint Managing Director of the ground-breaking research and development network for school leaders, Schools of Tomorrow. He has also been managing director of the national schools consultancy, Nexus Consulting, since founding it in 2002.
He has over 40 years experience at the forefront of educational innovation, embracing primary and secondary education, youth work and adult education. He has been a registered OFSTED inspector, local authority inspector, school improvement partner, NPQH assessor, and national adviser to SSAT, where among other things he introduced tailored improvement programmes for specialist schools in challenging circumstances, school and community engagement development programmes, and international professional development for teachers. He devised and led the Innovative Leadership for the Future long-term development programme for school leaders, which was taken up by over 300 school leaders during its five years of operation.
He holds a doctorate in school leadership at the University of Warwick and has contributed to the research and writing of the leadership curriculum for NCTL. His book ‘Regenerating Schools’, published by Continuum in 2008, was described by Professor Brian Caldwell as ‘outstanding’.
He is an accredited member and a director of the Society of Education Consultants and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
