Richard Knott

Richard Knott lives near Bristol, the city where he grew up. His most recent book is 'All-India and Down Under' (Pitch Publishing), a book about the return of cricket in 1946. Other books are: 'The Secret War Against the Arts' (Pen & Sword 2020); 'The Sketchbook War' and 'The Trio' for The History Press; 'Black Night for Bomber Command' and 'Posted in Wartime' for Pen and Sword; and 'Flying Boats of the Empire' (Robert Hale). He has published two poetry collections 'Perfect Day' (2020) and 'The Texan's House' (2022). A selection of the poetry of Clive Branson for Smokestack Books was published in 2023.

October 2026 sees the publication of his new book 'Far From Lord's' published by Pitch Publishing. It focuses on the England tours overseas from 1953 to 1969 and describes not only the cricket played but also the cricketers and cricket correspondents of the period and the tensions and crises the players in particular faced. Among the players figuring in the book are Frank Tyson, Peter May, Len Hutton, Basil D'Oliveira, Ted Dexter, Tom Graveney, Fred Trueman and Colin Cowdrey. The cricket writers include Alan Ross, E W Swanton, Ian Peebles and John Woodcock.
