David Shibley is founder and international representative of Global Advance, a ministry providing training, resources and encouragement to church and marketplace leaders worldwide. Founded in 1990, Global Advance provides on-site training to tens of thousands of leaders each year throughout the Majority World. Since its founding Global Advance has brought face-to-face training to some 600,000 Christian leaders in 81 nations. David has ministered in 52 nations in conferences, churches, and evangelistic outreaches. Also, he ministers extensively throughout the United States, challenging the American church to reach its full mission potential.
Raised in a pastor’s home, world missions has been a central theme of David’s life and ministry. The vision of Global Advance is to equip one million pastoral leaders and one million business leaders (“the Marketplace Million”) in the Majority World to impact their nations for Christ. A major emphasis for David is mentoring young men in ministry. He has been interviewed on several Christian television network programs including The 700 Club, TBN and Daystar. He has served on the boards of eight ministries and currently serves with the Strategy Working Group for the Lausanne Movement.
David is the author of numerous articles and 21 books including the acclaimed mission classics, A Force in the Earth and The Missions Addiction. His latest book is Great for God (New Leaf Press). He is a graduate of John Brown University in Arkansas (where he was named the Outstanding Alumnus of the Year in 1995) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also was awarded an honorary doctorate from Oral Roberts University. He and his wife, Naomi, have been married since 1972 and have two married sons and five grandchildren.
