Layn Marlow

Layn Marlow is a children's picture book author and illustrator who lives and works in the South of England. Her work has a sympathetic warmth and humour, which has made her known and loved internationally and in 2015, she was chosen to illustrate the website of reknowned children's book author Dick King-Smith. Her titles have sold over a million copies worldwide and been translated into more than 20 different languages.

Layn also loves sharing her picture books with families and young children, in libraries, schools, pre-schools and at book festivals. This often involves some drawing, craft and messiness, and sometimes even a bit of a song a dance!

'Hurry up and Slow down' won Leespluim van de Maand - Netherlands, March 2009, won the Coventry Inspirations Book Award - UK, 2010, and was shortlisted for the Maine Chickadee Book Award - USA, 2011.

'A Very Strange Creature' (written by Ronda Armitage and illustrated by Layn Marlow) was short-listed for the Red House Book Award - UK, 2010 and won the Coventry Inspirations Book Award - UK, 2013.

'Too Small For My Big Bed' (written by Amber Stewart and illustrated by Layn Marlow) won the inaugural Geoffrey Trease Prize for Children's Books, East Midlands - UK, 2014 and was shortlisted for the Rotherham Children's Book Awards - UK, 2014.

'I'll Catch You If You Fall' (written by Mark Sperring and illustrated by Layn Marlow) was short-listed for the Sheffield Children's Baby and Toddler Book Award - UK, 2016.
