Jonathan S. Marion

Dr. Jonathan S. Marion is a cultural anthropologist, speaker, and author who studies how culture, connection, and embodiment shape the way we live, work, and lead. His central argument is simple but unexpected: how we show up—across differences and within our own bodies—is where lasting change happens.

An award-winning anthropology professor and former president of the Societies for Humanistic and Visual Anthropology, he is also a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation and a Professional Fellow of the Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate.

Embodiment runs through his work as a scholar, a Brazilian zouk instructor, and a coach; he owns La Casa del Corpo, a movement studio in Lagos, Portugal. His forthcoming book, Coaching Across Cultures (Wiley), offers a framework for collaborating across difference—a subject he now speaks and consults on internationally through his practice, Steps Along the Way.
