Charles P. Rubenstein

Charles Rubenstein was born and raised in NYC. He is a tenured professor of engineering and information science holding appointments in the graduate School of Information and Library Science and in the Department of Mathematics and Science in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Pratt Institute in New York City and has been a visiting professor of engineering at the Farmingdale State College (SUNY) Farmingdale, New York.

He has an earned doctorate in bioengineering (Polytechnic Institute of New York) and master's in library and information science (Pratt Institute). He has received many IEEE engineering professional society honors including it's Robert S. Walleigh Distinguished Professionalism Award, IEEE-USA Citation of Honor, Centennial Outstanding Young Engineer, Third Millennium Medal, and Regional Activities Board Innovation Award.

His first text, "Crash Course in Web Design for Libraries" sold over 1000 paperback copies.

An internationally known distinguished lecturer for IEEE's Engineering Management and Computer Society Tutorial Programs, he has delivered HTML/Web design, eCommerce, wireless technology, leadership skills, and scalability of membership presentations, tutorials and workshops throughout the world.

Dr. Rubenstein was 2010-2011 IEEE Director and Region 1 Chair (NE USA). He has served as a member of the IEEE Board of Directors, the Educational Activities Board, Member and Geographic Activities Board and the United States Activities Board. He current service to the engineering profession is as a member of IEEE's Publications Products and Services Board, Chair of the IEEE-USA Conferences Committee, and Secretary of the Region 1 Board of Governors.

He is a member of Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi engineering honor societies and is a Fellow and Chartered Engineer of the IET (UK).
