Kinley E. Roby

Kinley Roby was born in Westbrook, Maine, and grew up there and in Lovell, Maine, a tiny town then and now, close to the lovely Lake Kezar. The town was supported by farming and lumber mills. After working in the woods and in the mills for a time, he left for college and then taught English in Maine secondary schools for 16 years before returning to school and completing a Ph.D. degree in English. He next taught at Northeastern University in Boston for several years, publishing and editing. He ventured into fiction with the Harry Brock mysteries series, with nine books published and the tenth to be issued in 2015. Recently he has published RISKING ENCHANTMENT, a family/romance novel with Amazon/Kindle and expects to follow soon with A LESSER EVIL, another novel. His focus in his academic writing and editing was on biographies of writers and how their writing affected their lives. His THE KING,THE PRESS AND THE PEOPLE, a life of King Edward the VII, explores the ways in which the periodicals and newspapers of his day helped to shape the character of the man as well as the ways the English people came to see him. Roby feels that reading and writing help us to connect our heads and our hearts and to understand more fully our world and our place in it.
