Tor Hernes

Tor Hernes is Professor of Organization Theory at Copenhagen Business School, where he is also Director of the Centre for Organizational Time, and Adjunct Professor at University College of Southeast Norway. His main contributions to the organization and management consist of working through process philosophy, mainly the work of Alfred North Whitehead. Having published on various schools of thought in sociology related to organizations (e.g. Niklas Luhmann's social systems theory and Actor-Network Theory), his interests turned towards Whitehead's work, which offers a unique view of time and temporality. His present work is focused on the temporal dimension of organizing, discussed in his book "A Process Theory of Organization" (Oxford University Press). This book received the prestigious George R. Terry Book Award in 2015.
