Simon Henderson is an historian of American race relations. He lives and works in the north-east of England. His major interests are the connections between sport and the black freedom struggle and the place of race in the construction of American national identity. Sidelined - How American Sports Challenged the Black Freedom Struggle is the monograph based on his PhD thesis. Simon's second novel, a sequel to Beyond Ford and Fields, which is entitled The Fear of Hope, was published in October 2018.
