Mitchell S. Green

Welcome!

I am a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Connecticut, having taught previously at the University of Virginia. My specializations are in Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Mind, and Aesthetics. I am also interested in animal communication and the evolution of communication.

I have just launched a podcast on the Himalaya platform entitled, "The Unconscious Mind: Wisdom Below the Surface." You can find it here: https://www.himalaya.com/courses/2623353?utm_source=partner&utm_medium=wisdom-below-the-surface-mitch-green

I also offer a free online course entitled _Know Thyself: The Value and Limits of Self Knowledge_, hosted on the Coursera platform (https://www.coursera.org/learn/know-thyself-the-examined-life). The course is supported by a book by the same name, and which I wrote specifically to enhance the online course (https://www.routledge.com/Know-Thyself-The-Value-and-Limits-of-Self-Knowledge/Green/p/book/9781138676022).

In addition, I work with UConn's Office of Early College Experience to support Connecticut high school teachers who wish to offer dual-enrollment philosophy courses to their students. If you or your school might wish to get involved, please get in touch!

In summer, 2021 I will teach for the first time a course entitled Environmental Philosophy (Phil 1108E) at UConn. I'm having a great time as I prepare the course for launch.
